Hello all,
I'm starting this topic, because few people were interested in blindubuntu.
Blindubuntu is modification of standard ubuntu distribution made by my friend.
differences from ubuntu are:
it contains linux core patched by speakup - this can speak even information during booting
contains not only text processor Emacs including web brovser w3m and support for synthisators and braille displais speechd-el

contains orca 2.21.0 with czech localisation (this may be easily changed to english)
contains speech system speech dispatcher and neccessary libraries for working with orca
contains support for some unfree formats such as mp3
contains web brovser firefox 3.0 which is working with orca wery well (maybe it's newer version, I didn't check it - but it'll works as well)
includes program mp3text - program for converting text to spoken form (needs to be translated - maybe, it's genially simple)
contains screenreader YASR for consoles, which can work with utf-8, but it can be ran after logging in, so it can't read info during booting
contains speech system festival with upgraded program sox (including library libsox0)
strategy game soundrts (but with czech translation, but I think that english version can be downloaded on soundrts's website)
and more!!

This is copied and translated from my friend's web site.

You can get blindubuntu as debian package to plug it in to existing ubuntu distribution, or as stand-alone iso image.
!!! warning!!!
Don't install and download anything now!!
It's not translated and I must consult installation with my friend-creator.
Post ANY questions here!

But blindubuntu is upgraded to gether with other software, so:
sudo apt-get updat - updates list of sources
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade - upgrades distributions. This should be enough for most of software.
sudo apt-get upgrade - some software needs this command.
sudo apt-get clean - clenas stuff.
Theese commands are entered from gnome-terminal or virtual console. They can be joined by ; operator to perform sequentially.
Software synthesiser? I'm not sure about your question. There is espeak and festival installed. I think, that some more synthesisers can be used.
I'll be with my friend on camp one week, so we'll consult this.
No, it isn't translated yet - I created this topic to find out, if somebody will be interested in it.
English localisation is inplemented, there needs to be done only small translation, I guess.
Fell free to ask more questions.

Well, we decided to publish in english blindubuntu 8.10.
But it'll be out little bit later than normal ubuntu, because of testing installation and lots of things.

well, there is only one official site, and it's in czech.
I don't remember it exactly. search for it on wiki.ubuntu.cz.
I'll provide more information when blindubuntu 8.10 will be ready.
